Lady Death: the Movie (2004)

In spite of Chaos' Chapter VII bankruptcy , the "American anime" film based on the Chaos Lady Death character remain in production. Anime powerhouse AD Vision, not Chaos, is financing the 72-minute feature film, which is based on a script by American anime pioneer Carl Macek (Robotech). Macek has finished storyboarding the film and test footage from the film's Korean animation studio (SunMin Image Pictures) reportedly looks great. Macek and fellow producer Andy Orjuela are set to go to Korea to check on the actual animation of the film, a process that is likely to take several months. So far Lady Death has not been cast, though Macek says that some big time talent will be involved.

In spite of its feature-length format, the Lady Death film will not be released theatrically in the U.S. However the film may well air on one or more cable networks before its release on DVD. The producers expect the film to be ready for Halloween release in 2004.

Can't wait, hope it looks as good as it sounds. I still wish Chaos wouldn't have fucked up so bad. I'd love to see some Purgatori Animation too.

I just found out about it last week. I totally can't wait for this!!! I love Lady Death as well as Purgatori. As soon as it comes out(October 31) i'm so buying it!!

Sorry for my ignorance, but could somebody tell me a little bit about Lady Death. I never read this comic. I know what she looks like but that's all.

Aside from writing the script, Brian Pulido has very little to do with the production. God only knows what the producers/director did with his words afterward. Pulido mentioned this in his interview with LO-FI:

LF: What about the Lady Death animated film? What?s the status?

BP: It?s still happening. It?s moving at the pace of a glacier, but it?s moving along. According to these guys-- and their target release date tends to shift with time-- their latest release date is October 2004. So they are still doing it.

LF: Have you seen any of it?

BP: I?ve seen one scene. It looks good. Interesting. You know, I?ve had different type of relationships with companies in relation to my characters throughout the years... some good and some bad. Most good, actually. But these guys don?t tend to involve me too much. So it?s been a peculiar experience to be honest with you. I wrote the story and did character designs. Once that was done, it was pretty much a kiss off.

well, I never read the comics on a regular basis, so I'm not too worried aboot that. it was a "whenever my bud bought one" kinda thing...
I know enough of the story to make sense of it, but not enough that I'll be pissed if they stray from the source material.
